  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

you know that I'm ALWAYS up for a Pacific NW meet-up with you! :)

Claire! Let's be roomies somewhere in the PNW! So what if I keep dreaming of UCSC? I can commute. ;)

Amy - I've got to get back to Portland.

Jess - next time I'm out that way, we've got to coordinate.

Love them all, but especially the last one.

I love your jet-setting, friend-filled life, Claire! You got it all goin' on. :)

Pretty pics too, as always. The dappled light in the Wexley School shot...gorgee-oh-so!

Thanks Jennifer and BG! I like my travels too.

i'll meet you there next august ;) sounds like a good tradition...i love the colors in these shots.
